His Excellency Customs President and Vice-President of the World Customs Organisation for Northern Africa and Near & Middle East Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa has chaired the 49th meeting of the region customs directors-general in Egypt. The WCO Secretary-General also attended the meeting.
The Customs President focused on the theme of this year’s celebrations to mark the World Customs Day which would concern smart borders signifying the crucial role of the Customs at ports and its dedication to facilitate trade and ensure security.
The WCO Secretary-General said the organisation would witness changes in its administration after the voting to select a new board chairperson. The meeting discussed issues on the agenda and the participants agreed to support one candidate for the post of Director of Infrastructure Building and to make joint efforts to enable an Arab to become a director of the WCO.
